Applications for scholarship for first-year or incoming undergraduates are now open for the academic years 2022-2023. The New York Institute of Technology awards scholarships every year to cover students’ educational costs.
New York Tech Scholarship
The Institute offers four scholarship categories to help incoming undergraduates lessen financial barriers and complete their education. New York Institute of Technology awards a scholarship to outstanding students that can show their academic excellence.
The institute’s scholarship will be renewed each semester if the recipients meet the criteria for renewal.

Scholarship Categories
First-Year Scholarship
Students who apply for the scholarship but do not have a SAT/ACT score are eligible. The application for the scholarship will be based upon the academic merits of each student.
The GPA average of the students is equivalent to the award amount.
- Up to $26,000 will be awarded for a GPA of 3.9 or above
- Up to $25,000 in awards for students with a 3.79 GPA
- Up to $23,000 will be awarded for a 3.49 GPA
- Up to $19,000 in awards for students with a 3.19 GPA
Students may receive the following scholarships:
- Presidents Scholarship
- Theodore K. Steele Scholarship
- Merit Scholarship
- Academic Achievement Awards
The full-time undergraduates at the Institute will receive the scholarship for up to four years. Each semester, the GPA must be maintained. The amount of scholarship provided to the recipient can only be used for their tuition fees and cannot be used for summer attendance.
$1,000 Legacy Awards
The New York Institute of Technology offers a scholarship to:
- The undergraduate students who are enrolled in full-time, degree-granting programs at the Institute.
- Parents or guardians must have graduated from New York Institute of Technology.
- All documents and forms related to the scholarship must be submitted.
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
For the spring semester, the deadline is December 15, 2023 and for the fall semester it’s July 15, 2023.
Students Child of the Firefighters Police, EMTs and Teachers Awards
This award recognizes the children of Police Officers and Teachers, as well as EMTs and Firefighters. The student’s parents or guardians must be full-time employees of the jobs mentioned and active in their service.
Scholarships will provide 50% off tuition fees and must meet the criteria below:
- Admission to a full-time degree program at the university is required.
- The FAFSA must be completed before the deadline for the application.
- You must be able complete your application by the deadlines of 15 July 2022 (fall semester) and 15 December 2022 (spring semester).
- Applications that are incomplete will not be reviewed.
- The scholarship application will be held until the next review.
- Students must submit their parent’s or guardian’s ID, or any other documents supporting the application.
- Status of parents and guardians in terms of employment
Fastrac Scholarships from $9,000 to $9,500 per year
- Students must be local, permanent, or citizens of the USA.
- New York Institute of Technology Freshmen undergraduates.
- A GPA of at least 3.0 on the high school point system.
- Minimum SAT 1150 or ACT 24,
- The FAFSA must be eligible.
- Admission to the institute’s degree program is required.
$500 NYIT First Scholarship
The $500 scholarship is an one-time award. The scholarship is based on academic merit, and students must have been active members of the FIRST Team in secondary school.
The institute will offer the scholarship in any degree program. Students must meet the scholarship criteria to be eligible.
- Students must meet the requirements for the scholarship. They also need to submit their application by the deadline.
- The scholarship committee will not consider applications that are incomplete or late.
- You must be in senior high school with a minimum GPA 3.0.
- Admission to the New York Tech is required as a full time undergraduate in one of the eligible courses offered at the institute.
- The deadline for scholarship applications is May 15, 2019.
- The NYIT requires an essay to be submitted with the application.
- The student’s academic merits and application will require documents.
Scholarship recipients must maintain the GPA required for their Scholarship Category.
